Designing the Holy Night
Going into our initial meeting with our team for the contemporary plated desserts project, I had no idea what to expect in terms of theme. We saw a few examples from years past and they were also vastly different, we just didn’t know what would happen. Our team for the project however had a very clear idea and aesthetic in mind, the Birth of Christ. NOT as Christmas but rather Nativity. Seeing their clear moodboard full of the north star, the manger and the three wise men, I was immediately inspired.
Detailed Production
The project had a short turn around time so we worked fast to create logo concepts and get one of them approved while we simultaneously worked on the deliverables. I worked specifically on the comment card that the project required but as a team we worked collaboratively, giving each other feedback and ideas for how to improve our designs. For the construction I took a lead with the menus specifically. I worked to create a file to cut and engrave our wood board and when that yielded burnt edges I thought on my feet and decided to get gold paint to cover the edges and finalize an elevated look.
